Creative VR Concept Pitch

For the Land Rover Velar relaunch campaign proposal, I developed a campaign concept and explored how the idea could become an immersive VR experience.

I built the concept as a working prototype using 3D models and a game engine, then used the same real-time assets to create a 30-second campaign film. This allowed the campaign idea, VR experience and visual storytelling to develop together rather than as separate pieces.

Thirty seconds, out of the engine

Every frame is real-time, rendered from the same scene the VR walkthrough runs on.

A pitch, built rather than described

The idea was an immersive VR presentation of the car. Rather than storyboard it, I built it in a game engine, so the concept could be walked through.

The rings

Two rings orbit the car and carry the light. One device that works as set, as camera path and as interface.

Beautiful from every angle

A claim that is hard to prove in a photograph and easy to prove when the viewer chooses the angle.

A close rendered frame of the wheel arch and wheel, lit by the moving rings

Real-time, not rendered overnight

Every frame comes out of the engine at speed. Lighting a detail like this becomes a decision you make while looking at it.

One set of assets, two outputs

The same scene produced the VR walkthrough and the film's frames, which is what let concept and craft develop together.

Two further frames, a roofline detail and the car lit in the ring rig

The visitor drives it

A phone controls the rings, the camera and the lights. The pitch ended with something the client could hold rather than imagine.
